The Christian Education or Formation of disciples is a life long endeavor that we are committed to at SSPC. From birth to completion of baptism in death we continue to learn more about our faith and how it connects to the world in which we live. Scripture, worship, theologians of every age, cultural engagement and mission are all elements of Christian formation and help us to learn through a praxis model. In other words it is not just about learning concepts but also putting them into action and reflecting upon them. Come join us as we journey together to become more faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
Children and Youth
We hold weeknight gatherings centered around bible study, open discussions, mission, fun, fellowship and of course FOOD!! The youth have their own “youth lounge” and we are preparing a special room for the younger children as well. On Sundays the children gather before worship for bible study and join us for the first part of worship. The youth gather for discussions, worship and fellowship each week. Check out our “youth room” page!
Eighth and Ninth graders and those older youth who have not gone through confirmation yet are welcome. The Pastor and other adult leaders design and lead each year’s program which includes a study of other world religions, an exploration of who God and Jesus are, and discussions on the purpose of the church and what being a church member means.
During the seasons of the year we offer different classes for adults in bible study, faith formation, spiritual practices and service. Each Sunday we gather at 9:20am in the narthex for discussion of faith, bible and ways of being disciples. This is an open and safe place to discuss matters of faith and life where no question or topic is out of bounds! Check this site often for the next opportunity for adult education.
