South Salem Presbyterian Church

Church Life

Membership

Several times a year, we offer people the opportunity to re-affirm their faith by becoming members of this congregation. If you have been coming to our church for a while and think of this as your church home, it may be the time for you to consider this important move.

A new members class is held after church twice a year, with childcare provided. This is a chance to find out about the Presbyterian Church in general—and this congregation in particular—and to meet others who are joining the church. This class is also for those who are transferring their membership from another church.

Fellowship

In addition to weekly services and Bible study classes,

the church holds a variety of social activities—potluck suppers and picnics, hymn sings and our biggest event—the Memorial Day Fair that draws people from all over northern Westchester and Connecticut.

Stewardship

Every year we ask our members and friends to reflect on what the church means to them and to consider their financial contribution to God’s work. Over the past several years, we have emphasized proportional giving—earmarking a percentage of income for the church. In churches across the country, we have found that two percent of annual gross income is an appropriate expression of appreciation for all of God’s gifts. At SSPC, we have a large number of households of varying incomes who have pledged between two and five percent of their income to further our work.
