Our music program is a vital part of our worship, enhanced by our Russell pipe organ, installed in 1994. The project to re-build the organ began at a time of transition for the church, which was in-between ministers. The financial commitment to commission master craftsman Stephen Russell of Vermont to build the instrument was a significant step for the congregation.
The New York Times considered the installation of the new organ a newsworthy event, and since then, the instrument has been an inspiring addition to Sunday services, and the centerpiece of exciting musicalpresentations.
Throughout the year, and especially at Christmas and Easter, professional singers and instrumentalists join our choirs for special music presentations—from gospel to renaissance to the sacred music of Mozart. The adult choir sings during Sunday worship, and at special services throughout the year.
The adult choir rehearses on Thursdays from 7:45 to 9:30 p.m.
Harmony Angels, our Children’s Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings from 11:25 – 11:45
Sunday School is expanded for 15 minutes after worship ends to include fellowship and a hymn sing so that all of our children can begin to experience the joy of music.
Anyone interested in joining a choir is welcome, and need not be an active member of the congregation to become involved.
