South Salem Nursery School A very special school in South Salem since 1963 - We believe: in a developmental approach to early childhood education because children develop at their own unique pace. in an environment that fosters initiative, self-discipline and self-reliance. that play is a child's "work" and that it builds important foundations for future academic achievement. that children learn from each other and must learn to respect others. that self-esteem results when children are recognized and valued as unique individuals. What Makes our Program Special South Salem Nursery School has been an integral part of this town for the past 50 years. The school was founded to meet the community's need for a safe and loving place to send their youngest children.			Curriculum Our curriculum is designed to promote growth in language use, self confidence, exposure to basic readiness skills, fine and gross motor developement and a love of learning.
Our Goal and Philosophy The goal of the South Salem Nursery School is to foster social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth for children of all abilities. We accomplish this with a program that develops preschool children's delight in nature, music, art, literature, science, computers and Foreign Language.			Facilities The South Salem Nursery School was established as a non-sectarian school sponsored by the South Salem Presbyterian Church. Overlooking the hamlet of South Salem, the beautiful white church is located on a historic site surrounded by ancient trees on 4 sprawling acres.
Exceptional Staff A director with more than 30 years in early childhood education, and a staff of experienced teachers providing families and young children with the continuity they need.			Eligibility & Registrations We currently offer a 2's, 3's and 4's program with the possibility of a kindergarten enrichement class. Registration opens October 1st of the prior school year.
